Pang uk

Pang uk is a kind of stilt house found in Tai O which have more than 100 years history and is the living place of Tankas people(蜑家)or calls boat people. The special of pang uk is it builds on the sea because residents feel uncomfortable of living on the ground and it convenient them to go out the sea to fishing. It forms a tightly-knit community that literally lives on the water that can have an interconnection with the neighbor. When visitor go to pang uk, they can enjoy the sightseeing on the boat to have a special experience of the old life style of Hong Kong .

How to get there

MTR Tung Chung Station. Take bus 11 to Tai O bus terminus (the journey takes approximately 50 minutes.) Walk for around five minutes to the Rope-drawn Ferry Bridge and then take a stroll along the waterfront.
MTR Tung Chung Station Exit B. Take Ngong Ping cable car to Ngong Ping Village (approx 25 minutes). Take bus 21 to Tai O terminus (approx 20 minutes) and walk for around five minutes to the Rope-drawn Ferry Bridge and then take a stroll along the waterfront. chinese white dolphins(中華白海豚).
